The One Where It All Began

EDIT: I added in the part where Annika seduces the commanding officer.
[The title is sorta like, dedicated to FRIENDS the TV show, not my friends]

Setting: New York City, specifically, in a coffee shop called Java Perk (sorry, couldn't think of anything better).

Characters and their powers:

Ashley
Telepathy - apparent communication from one mind to another w.out using sensory perceptions.
Telekinesis - power to move by thinking of about it with the application of physical force.
>basically all stuff pertaining to the mind... being smart, etc. Bottomline, I'm--SHE's a genius.

Paolo
Supersight - able to see things really really frikkin far
Treasurer - its not really a power.. but he holds all the money of the WB

Harvey
Speed - he can run really fast
Supplier - he knows where and how to get "stuff" (haha)

Lyca
Artistry - able to draw accurately
Visionary - unusual powers of foresight. Unlike Paolo, she sees the future (yes, I know, its cliche, ugh, I cant to the e' thing on this laptop... and yes its like Isaac from HEROES and Cassie from PUSH but its kinda hard to find a power for amazing drawing powers!)

Annika
Seductive - haha sorry dude but I couldn't think of anything else.
Master of Disguise - can squeeze the secrets out of anybody boy or girl ahaha!

OTHERS AREN'T MENTIONED NOW BUT THEY WILL BE SOON.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The door to Java Perk opened and the bell rang.
Harvey, Lyca and Annika were sitting on the couches drinking coffee and talking about current events (pfff yeeeah riiiight haha) when Ashley and Paolo came.
"Phew! Tough day at work!" said Ashley, removing her white... doctor-coat thingy...
"No kidding, I just did heart surgery on a mob boss's nephew... good thing he didn't know I knew..." said Paolo as he removed his too.
"Cool."
"So what's up with you guys?" he asked the others.
"Well, nothings moving with the new software we created." said Harvey. "No company is interested in a software that facilitates inter-business networking."
(Harvey's job is a software manufacturer...a bit far from what he actually wanted to be)
"Duh, maybe coz no one knows what it does!" laughed Annika. "Well anyway, everythings going fine with me, I just got tipped $20 from a guy for singing 'No Woman No Cry'!"
(Annika was a singer at fancy restaurants and bars)
"And just sold another painting." said Lyca.
(She's an artist who sells her own paintings)
(Obviously Ashley and Paolo are both doctors)

"So hey, have you heard of that guy that kidnapped the governor's grandfather?" asked Harvey. "We were just discussing it."
"Oh, yeah! I heard that from the nurses...wow," said Paolo. "This will probably pressure him into signing that bill."
"What bill?"
"You know, the one that will change the retirement age from 65 to 70." answered Ashley.
"What?! That's crazy!"
"Yeah, but what can we do, right? We're just civilians..."
"I think that bill's a great idea," said Lyca. "More people working."
"Yeah but it could also cause too much people working. Some others won't get to work then."
"Yeah, but--"
"Could we stop with the lame issues, please?" Harvey cut in. "Let's talk about something else."
"Okay... like what?"
"Like what I suggested we should ALL do, instead of waste our time?"
They all looked at each other.
"We told you, Harv," said Paolo. "That's out of the question."
"But WHY? Why can't we do it? It's not illegal or anything..."
"We know its not, but its too dangerous!" said Annika.
"Yeah, we can't risk being discovered." said Lyca.
"But we have them for a reason." glared Harvey. "And I think we should use it for the greater good."
"But what if we were caught?" asked Paolo.
"Or worse--killed!" Annika shrieked.
"Then at least we died doing something good, right?"
The others fell silent.
"I think... we should give it a shot." suggested Ashley. "Just try it out once. Then let's see what'll happen."
The other three still looked doubtful.
"Hey, I gotta go," Harvey stood up. "But I want you guys to think about it, 'kay? Meet you back in the apartment..."
When Harvey left, they turned to each other.
"You really think it'll work?" Annika asked Ashley.
"It's better to try than to regret never trying in the first place..."

----------------------------------------------------------------

This is how their lives are at work.
Ashley and Paolo work at the same hospital. Paolo is a cardiologists and a cardiac surgeon and Ashley is a physician.
They just do normal doctor stuff. Then they leave on Ashley's 2007 BMW M6 convertible (hahaha) to their condo in 111 Central Park NYC north condos (yep, livin' the dream life, baby!)
They don't live with each other though. There were three bedrooms in each so the girls were together and the boys were together across the hall and they turned the spare room into a rec room.

At Harvey's building...
Harvey works for a company called Square Co., a Japanese video game company. But apparently instead of video games, he was in charge of creating a software that facilitates inter-business networking. Which is why hes kinda bummed about his job...
"Hey Kim, did you find a buyer yet?" asked.... Bob.
"Nope.." Harvey sighed. "Not yet..."
"Okay, then."
Bob headed back to his cubicle. Harvey took out the folder with all the lists of possible buyers.
One after another he called and got rejected.
"Hm. Reminds me of high school..."
Call.... Rejected... Call... Rejected...
After a while he got tired and stood up to get a cup of coffee. He passed by Bob's cubicle and paused.
"Hey Bob," Harvey said.
"Yeah, Kim?"
"You've been here long, right?"
"Are you trying to make me feel bad, Kim?"
"You have, right?"
"Well... yeah, nearly 15 years."
"How do you get from here to being one of the game designers?"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean... you cant stay here forever right? I want to be one of those guys that make Final Fantasy.. or Kingdom Hearts, you feel me?"
"Oh... well, in the history of this company, I heard only one guy ever did it... and he was like, a friggin genius, though... he had loads of great ideas..."
"Hmm.. thanks..."
Harvey thought as he sipped his coffee. If only he could give a great idea, he would have his dream job...

At Annikas job...
"Okay, everyone, I'm going to be singing a classic today..." she announced.
A few people whoo-ed and clapped.
"Alright here it goes..." she began. "Smelly cat.. sme-elly cat... what are they feeding you?.. smelly cat... sme-elly cat.. its not your fault!"
At the end of the song...
"Thank you, thank you. Yes, that was a Buffay original.. yes.. thank you..."
She took her guitar case and went to the back.
"Hmm.. 1.. 1... ooh a 5... yaay! Another 20!"

At Lyca's studio...
"Hmm... a little more yellow there... green over here... just a dab of black... hmm..."
"Uhm.. excuse me?" someone rang the bell.
"Can I help you?" came Lyca.
"Uh, yes. How much is that painting of the moais?"
Lyca took a look at the lady. She looked fussy, wearing designer clothes and loads of jewelry.
"$300."
"Oh, my." the lady clutched her chest.
"Fine. I'll make it... $450?"
"Deal!"
"Cash?"
"Of course."
"Thank you."
Cha-ching. Tsss, Lyca thought. What kind of society is this. Where rich fussy ladies haggle to pay more than necessary.

Later that night...
"Dinner at your place?" asked Paolo.
"Yeah, we're having italian." said Ashley.
"Great!"
Ashley entered her condo and saw Annika and Lyca on the couch watching... E.N.E.M.I.E.S.
"Hey, the guys are coming over for dinner tonight. Italian."
"Awww, they always come over here. Why can't we go there?" whined Annika.
"Because we're the hostess...es and they don't like us to go in their stupid 'rec room'," said Lyca.
After dinner they all sat in the living room watching That '09 Show.
"So have you thought about it yet?" asked Harvey.
"Yeah..." Paolo said slowly. "We agreed to try it once, but only once!"
"Fine by me! You'll see, it feels great!"
"What do you mean, have you done it before?"
"No, but I see it on TV. They always look great!"

"I think because of our different abilities, this job might actually be a piece of cake." said Ashley.
"Stop calling it "abilities" and start calling it by what it really is!" said Harvey.
"Which is?"
He smiled. "Powers!"
"Fine then. Our powers differ so.. its possible that not all of us will be doing something."
"Thats no problem, really. I try not to get to involved." said Paolo.
"So... so we go into that building, take the governor's grandpa, tie up the kidnapper and just scram?" asked Annika. "How the hell will we do that without being noticed by the police that are--" she looked out the window "--surrounding the building?"
"That's what Harvey's powers are for."

The kidnapper held the governor's grandfather in the post office building just a few blocks from their condo. The police surrounded the building, calling for negotiations. But there was one spot where the police weren't covering, the alley between the post office and the bakery beside it. In that alley was a garbage dump. But even though there were no guards directly beside the alley, there was still a chance they could be seen it they entered that way. There was a door.
"So here's the plan," whispered Ashley as they all walked to the site. "Harvey's super speed renders him near invisibility, right? So I think he should run into the building, unseen by any of the police. And Paolo can guide him to the hostage room because he has the super eyesight thingy. Once inside, you take this rope--" she handed him a rope "--and run fast around the kidnapper, tying him up. And don't forget to gag him."
"But then the police will notice the kidnapper stopped talking, won't they?" Annika asked.
"Yes, they would but they can't take any action unless their commanding officer gives them them the say-so."
"Why do I have a feeling..."
"It's your job to seduce the commanding officer, make him NOT give the command."
"Aw crap..."
"And what do I do?" asked Lyca.
"You--" Ashley grabbed a notebook and a pencil "--tell me if my plan is gonna work."
"Tsss..." She drew. "Yes, of course it will."
"Great! Let's get going then."
"Hang on," said Paolo. "What are YOU doing, then?"
"Me? Hellooo, how do you think you're gonna tell Harvey where to go? Scream it at him? Now lets go!"
"Fine..."
"Well, here it goes.."
For a second Harvey was there, then the next he was gone.
"I see him!" said Paolo. "Uh... tell him to go straight, then take the stairs on his right."
Yo boogah head, go 12 then take the up-up on ya opposite heart side, Ashley thought.
"W-what the hell did you say? He's freaking out."
"Haha just testing."
Okay, go straight then take the stairs on your right...
"Tell him to go to the room on the far left thats where they are."
The room on your far left and its there.
"Hey, how's Annika doing?"

"Wow, I've never seen a commanding officer before..." Annika said as she walked over to the commanding officer.
"Sorry, ma'am, but this is police business, I'm gonna have to ask you to leave." he said.
"Oh... bossy! I like that in a man..." she replied as she stroked his arm.
The officer giggled.
"You do, do ya? Well then... I order you to get yer hands offa me!"
Annika laughed.
"Oh, you're so funny!"
"Well... yeah, I am."
"And sooooo... macho."
"Well, I DO work out five times a week so..."
"Ooh, can I touch your gun?"
"Why of course..."
More giggles.
"Sir!" called the officer in charge of negotiating. "Sir, the kidnapper has stopped talking, permission to enter the building. Sir!?"
But of course, the officer was too busy with Annika to hear him.
"Tsss..." Paolo tss-ed as he, Ashley and Lyca watched.
"Yeah, what a slut," Ashley said.
"Hey!"
"I meant the officer."
"Oh."
Oh, I SO didn't mean the officer.

Meanwhile, up in the building, Harvey was done tying up the kidnapper when he started hopping up and down. Desperate, he grabbed the gov's grampa and chucked him out the window.
Harvey! Thats not the plan!
"Wait.. he's sign languaging... S..O..R.. Sorry.. G.. O...T...T... Gotta... tss! He's gotta pee!" Paolo said.
"Sigh..."

The next day back at Java Perk,
"Anything on the news about us?" asked Harvey as he came in.
"Nope. Nothing. They just think the governor's grandfather broke free, tied up the criminal and jumped out the window."
"Dude! He's 102 years old!"
"Yeah, but people are stupid so..."
"Good point."
"So, dija like it? Dija like it?" asked Harvey. "This hero stuff? Good, ah?"
"Well.. it is fun," concluded Lyca. "Unless you're in charge of making sure the plan works."
"Aw, sorry, dude we'll find you another job."
"Fine.."
"So it's agreed? We'll do this thing?"
"But... there's so much to think about." said Ashley. "So many crimes all over the world, and we're only saving NYC? Isn't that a little selfish?"
They all looked at each other, feeling guilty.
"Nah, who cares? We're heroes anyway!" yelled Ashley.
"Yaaaaahoooo!" they all shouted.
"Yeah! Who cares if loads of people in this coffee shop heard that we're heroes?!"
"Yaaaahooooo!"
"Who cares if we get locked up in a freak show for the rest of our lives?!"
"Yaaaahooooo!"
And so it began, the days when the Weird Bunch were in NYC, protecting the innocent, whooping the bad guy's asses and sipping coffee in Java Perk's as they lived their lives blissfully unaware that some evil bitcharooneydooney was planning their downfall.
